Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Slicepoll is operated by G. Solomon (to be transferred to Slicepoll App Ltd or equivalent legal entity upon incorporation). If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at sliceapppoll@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect and why

Account data — When you sign up we collect your email address or phone number and the display name you choose. We need this to create and manage your account.

Profile data — After signing up you provide your age range, gender, and country or region. This is used solely to generate anonymous demographic breakdowns of poll results. You can choose to keep any of these hidden on a per-vote basis.

Poll data — We store the polls you create, the options you provide, and the deadlines you set. We also store your votes, linked to your account ID, to prevent duplicate voting and to allow you to change your vote before the deadline.

Social data — We store follow relationships between users (who you follow and who follows you). This is used to personalise your feed and show follower counts on profiles.

Comments — Comments you post on polls are stored with your display name and are visible to other users. Comments are not anonymous.

Usage data — We collect basic technical information such as app version and device type to help us fix bugs and improve the app. We do not use this for advertising.

Content you submit — Poll questions and answer options you create are stored and may be reviewed if reported as offensive or inappropriate. Poll questions are scanned automatically for offensive content before publishing using Google's content moderation technology.

3. What we do NOT do with your data

4. How voting anonymity works

Your vote is linked to your account ID — a random string generated by our system — never to your name or email address. Poll results show only aggregated statistics such as "60% of 25-34 year olds chose Option A." No individual's vote is ever displayed to any other user including the poll creator. If you choose to hide your demographic data on a particular vote, that information is excluded from all breakdowns entirely.

5. Who we share data with

Google Firebase — our database, authentication, and hosting provider. Your data is stored in Google's European data centres in Belgium and the Netherlands. Google processes data under standard contractual clauses compliant with GDPR. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Content Moderation API — poll questions are scanned for offensive content before publishing. This sends the text of poll questions to Google's servers for analysis. No personal identifying information is included in these requests.

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties.

6. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account your profile data and contact information are deleted within 30 days. Your votes are anonymised upon account deletion — your demographic data is removed from all results but aggregate vote counts remain as they form part of poll results that other users depend on.

7. Your rights

Regardless of where you are in the world you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

For users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom these rights are guaranteed under GDPR and UK GDPR respectively. For users in California these rights are guaranteed under CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights contact us at sliceapppoll@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. International data transfers

Slicepoll is operated globally. Your data is stored in Google's European data centres regardless of where you are located. If you access Slicepoll from outside the European Economic Area your data is still protected to GDPR standard. Transfers of data outside the EEA are covered by Google's standard contractual clauses which provide appropriate safeguards.

9. Age restriction

Slicepoll is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you are under 13 you may not create an account or use Slicepoll. If we become aware that a user is under 13 we will delete their account and all associated data promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account please contact us at sliceapppoll@gmail.com.

Users aged 13 to 17 may use Slicepoll. We encourage parents and guardians to be aware of their children's use of the app.

10. Security

We use industry standard security measures to protect your data including encrypted connections via HTTPS, Firebase security rules, and authenticated access controls. No system is entirely immune to security risks but we take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information.

11. Content moderation and account termination

Slicepoll is a platform for making decisions respectfully and anonymously. We do not tolerate offensive, illegal, discriminatory, or abusive content. Poll questions that violate our Terms of Service may be removed without notice. Users who repeatedly create offensive or abusive content may have their accounts suspended or permanently terminated. If you wish to report offensive content please contact us at sliceapppoll@gmail.com.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via a notice in the app. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated. Your continued use of Slicepoll after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
